Yeshe Matthews began practicing Buddhist meditation with her mother at the age of 4. At the age of 27, she began studying Tibetan Vajrayana, serving as a volunteer and student at the Nyingma Institute in Berkeley. At the age of 35 she took Refuge with an itinerant teacher, Lama Lodo, a student of HH Penor Rinpoche who studied and took his vows at Namdroling Monastery before coming to the West. In 2015, she took refuge afresh with her heart teacher, Lama Dechen Yeshe Wangmo.
She has received teachings and empowerments from Tibetan teachers His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama, the monks of the Gyuto Vajrayana Foundation, the monks of Gaden Shartse Monastery, Ven. Khensur Lobsang Jampa Rinpoche, HE Chöye Ayang Rinpoche, Ven. Geshe Ngawang Dakpa, Chögyal Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche, HE Gaden Tripa Rizong Rinpoche, Palyul Lhatul Rinpoche, Lama Kunga Thartse Rinpoche, Sang-nag Rinpoche, & Khenpo Sodargye Rinpoche, .
She has also taken teachings and empowerments from Western teachers Ngak'chang Rinpoche, Lama Dechen Yeshe Wangmo, Lama Tsultrim Allione, Sam Webster, Isa Gucciardi, joi wolfwomyn, Vicki Noble, and Prema Desara.

Erick came to Buddhism while studying with Noah Levine in 2002, with Against The Stream sangha. A formal student of Zen, Erick graduated from New York Zen Center for Contemplative Care Foundations program in 2006 and received Jukai, 受戒 or lay ordination in the Soto lineage from White Mountain Monastery shortly their after.
Erick's studies in magic include working within Reclaiming Collective, WitchCamps, and Soul Work with T. Thorn Coyle. He has studied Tantra with Dr. Douglas Brooks and Sally Kempton, sanskrit with Manorma, as well as continues a rigorous zazen practice at Village Zendo, in NYC, under Pat Enkyo O'Hara, roshi.
A popular blogger in the Pagan community, he is most known for Alone in Her Presence, a blog - turned book - turned column, now hosted on Patheos.com. As writer, he has contributed to numerous anthologies including surviving sexual trauma, race relations, and children's faith development. He is author of Alone In Her Presence: Meditations on the Goddess, and forthcoming titles, The Hero Within: Reframing Masculinity with the Goddess and the anthology Finding Masculine in Goddess' Spiral: Men in Ritual, Community and Service to the Goddess, both by Immanion Press.
